How it works

If you have a Cleco account, enter your account number when you sign up. Your actual consumption figures for electricity will be automatically entered, along with your local weather data. If you use gas in your home, you will be asked to enter your gas usage and cost.

If you do not have a Cleco account, you'll be asked to enter 12 months of electricity and gas billing history (if applicable) for your home. You can enter as little as one month's billing data to generate a profile, and the system will estimate the rest for you.

However, the more information you provide, the more comprehensive and accurate your profile will be.

Once you have logged in, you will be asked a series of questions about your home's energy consumption. Some questions may require leaving the computer to collect details needed to complete the profile, such as the number and sizes of light bulbs and windows in your home.

The process takes about 20 minutes. You can do sections of it now and return later. The information you have entered will be saved. The profile has a security "time out" feature, so if you leave for more than 20 minute, you will need to login again with your user ID and password.

Your Results

Once you have entered your responses, a report will be generated that:

breaks down your energy usage
gives an overview of your appliance, heating, cooling and lighting costs
provides advice on cost-saving measures you can do now

The facts you enter are saved, so that you can revise your data in the future.

Home Start Profile

The energy cost breakdowns and potential savings indicated in your Home Energy Profile are based on information derived from representative samples. Factors, such as weather variations, number and ages of occupants, characteristics of your house, lifestyle patterns and personal preferences, can affect energy usage and energy cost savings that may be realized in any particular home. Therefore, Cleco cannot offer any assurance that the recommended energy-saving measures, whether implemented singly or in combination, will result in determinable cost savings.
